Inside Briat

Built in 1540 by Jeanne d’Albret the mother of later king Henry IV, extended in the 1700’s and 1950, Briat offers more than a simple stay but an experience through time. Located in the heart of Armagnac region of Gascony, the 60 hectare park provide peace and privacy, bordered by vineyard, woods, cellar, pool and tennis court. Since 1864 Briat is a producer of Bas Armagnac and we procure tastings and visits in our exceptional traditional “chai” built in 1724. Property bought by the famous Pichon-Longueville wine makers of Bordeaux in 1864, the estate remains privately owned for the 5th generation.

Visit in the cellar and taste the armagnacs or our aperitif Skerzo are recommended as Armagnac making has been in the essence of the estate since the beginning.

The pool, 20*8 netters, located south from the house offer a beautiful scenery and sometimes let the Pyrenees appear at the skyline. Lunch is usually brought & served in the shades with our vintage willis jeep, so that you can relax in the hamacs before going back in the pool.

The tennis court is behind the potager where fresh vegetables &fruits are grown for our guests as well as eggs from our 12 chickens, every thing is of course natural and pesticide free.

Henry IV bedroom: Bed 200*200, Shower, bathtub, wc, working firplace, 1st floor behind the library. Large bedroom, isolated and quiet.

White Bedroom: Bed 200*200, Shower, antique copper bathtub, wc, 1st floor wiew on courtyard (east).

Green bedroom: Bed 160*180, Sower, wc. 1st floor wiew on the park (south).

Blue bedroom: Bed 200*200, Sower, wc. ground floor direct access to the park (south).

Red Bedroom: Bed 160*180, Sower, wc. ground floor direct access to the park (south).

Kids Bedroom: 3 beds, 1 bathtub, one sower, 1st floor.

Private apartment with 1 bedroom bed 200**200 1 shower, living / kitchen, little garden, close to the cellar.

THE GRANGE:

Old wood and tractor storage unit, it has been totally remolded in 2014. It holds a bar, working fireplace, ping pong, party with DJ mixing table (if you can manage…. ) and video projector.
